Bows and Arrows!

Our February session at Cody Dock was wonderful!

The sun was shining, the temperature was mild and parents/guardians and children enjoyed the activities: painting the targets on ply wood, going for a walk to gather materials for the headdresses and arrows, making the bows and arrows and then testing the bows, dancing, playing games and making some lovely bananas and melted chocolate on the fire. We had little time to tidy up our vegetable patch, but we’ll dedicate more time to it when we’re next there, in March.

October Half Term: Day One

On day one, Shaun prepared the base for the wooden structure that will be burnt during Cody Dock’s halloween party on Saturday. The children did lots of painting on pieces of wood, which will then be displayed on the wooden structure once it’s complete.

Some children and parents did also some weaving and an eco printing experiment on cotton. The cotton bundles were boiled in a pan on the fire. Tomorrow, we’ll open up the bundles to see if the experiment worked! The children helped make a lovely soup on the fire by chopping up squash, onions, celery, carrots, potatoes and rosemary fresh from the garden.

To end the day, Emma read a story to everyone, which was well and truly appreciated by all the children. The smiles on their faces said it all!
