This month we made string puppets with sticks and recycled fabrics. We provided materials and simple instructions and everyone really just worked with their imagination. I really loved that the grown ups got really involved in this activity; having adults work closely with the children is a great way to leave a lasting impression on the value of doing things with our hands, especially when we are creating funny characters. After much deliberation, one of the puppets was called an alien princess. What’s great about this craft is that children can learn how to move the puppet and play with it again and again (and maybe next time they want to make a puppet they’ll find a better way of building one!). Great effort!
